Maria Bitarello is a writer, translator, editor and journalist based in São Paulo, Brazil. With an MA in Luso-Brazilian Literature from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), she has three non-fiction books published in Brazil, and other pieces and short-stories published in Brazilian as well as international publications such as magazines, newspapers and anthologies. She started a small independent publishing house in São Paulo (La petite ferme) and is a member of Teatro Oficina, the longest running theater company in Brazil. She is also an amateur photographer and musician who loves driving and cooking. Brought up between Brazil and the United States in a family of educators – plus a time living in France –, she speaks four languages and thoroughly believes in the power of stories.
